Basic Purpose:
To provide quality customer service and assistance to members, clients, and customers coming into the facility.
The membership clerk is primarily responsible for ensuring efficient, effective data entry and audit processing of membership department forms, with an emphasis processing requests for membership scholarships.
The clerk is responsible for ensuring confidentiality of recordkeeping and support to the Membership Manager by providing training and feedback to Welcome Desk Associates.
The Membership Clerk supports the membership department with regular statistical reporting of sales and usage.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure data collection and refinement of planning documents.
Accurately enter and oversee the entering of all account information and all other essential data into a computerized database.
Review new account applications and data entry for clerical accuracy and delegate corrections.
Analyzes customer accounts and promptly makes corrections and/or modifications to files.
Contact customers to obtain missing information or data to ensure an accurate customer database.
Demonstrate strong communication skills, be out-going, and enjoy building relationships with a variety of members.
Provide direct support to Welcome Desk Associates when needed.
Provide excellent customer service to the community; see that all customers, clients and members are given prompt and courteous service.
Observe and identify customers, clients and members that may be recommended candidates for scholarship.
Aid with the scholarship process and approvals.
Provide written communication for scholarship awards.
Must be able to handle cash, make changes and operate the POS system.
Secure the POS area at open and close of shifts.
Receive and handle incoming telephone calls, and emails in a friendly and businesslike manner.
Direct calls to appropriate program/staff in a timely manner.
Maintain progressive knowledge of all programs and facilities.
Oversee member & customer interactions as related to Protecting the Mission policies.
Adhere to Suisun Kroc Center operations as well as all policy procedures as adopted by administration.
Observe all safety rules and regulations.
Provide referral information to meet individual and family needs.
Attending staff meetings as assigned.
Maintain confidentiality.
Other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS Education Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalency Skills Previous cashier and/or customer service experience helpful.
Must have ability to empathize, communicate and work with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
Must have command of the English language and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must have the ability to maintain a non-judgmental attitude in working with customers, clients, members, and staff.
Ability to communicate effectively with clientele and staff.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.
Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and energetically with staff, clients, members, and customers.

Computer software application experience helpful.
Ability to use new software programs with basic training.
Skilled at basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office; database 0management experience.

Knowledge of Salvation Army policies and procedures helpful.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to remain at a keyboard for periods of up to two hours and answer phones is essential.
The ability to operate under stressful working conditions in a rapidly changing work environment with multiple priorities is required.
Ability to occasionally file, kneel, squat, bend, reach, grasp and stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
