BASIC PURPOSE The Youth Development and Child Watch Attendant is responsible for the safety, care, and well-being of the children within Youth Services, including Child Watch, and the Youth After School program extended care.
Attendants will follow the policies and procedures of the center regarding personal conduct and security, as well as demonstrate a true desire to work and play with children.
The Youth development and Child Watch Attendant will take lead and direction from the Membership Manager or the Membership Lead.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide great customer service to the community ensuring that all customers, clients, and members are given prompt and courteous service.
Follow all Child Safety policies and procedures.
Relate joyfully and sensitively to children of all ages.
Awareness of children's individual needs.
Always use appropriate positive discipline and practice vigilant supervision.
Handle security and crisis situations calmly.
Maintain knowledge of all current programming.
Responsible for maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the work and play areas.
Adhere to The Salvation Army Kroc Center policies and procedures.
Follow and comply with all safety rules and regulations.
Ensure the facility remains secure and report any security concerns to a supervisor.
Complete required training.
Maintain confidentiality.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED equivalency.
Minimum of 6 months successful experience working with children preferred.
Ability to empathize, communicate, and work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Thrive in a team environment with emphasis on partnership and collaboration.
Demonstrate positive interactions with co-workers, clients, and members.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining poise and professionalism.
Assess challenging situations and respond appropriately.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Physical mobility in bending and lifting up to 30 lbs.
Use of auditory and visual senses with children and staff.
Ability to verbally communicate with children and staff.
